Sombre and Dramatic 'Atoll' Egg From Zwikau-Planitz, Saxony

A somberly powerful 'atoll' agate or thunderegg - 'atoll' referring to the shape that the agate forms in the stone, including a thin peripheral ring or ark. Actually it's more than that. This is a startlingly 'yonic' stone in appearance (if you turn it on end) - or perhaps it's fruit-like. You choose! Fertility symbol or seed? In colour, this stone seems to conjure up the darker old-european world more than any of the other european ones I have seen. It has the atmosphere of an old gothic novel of dark forests and ancient germanic castles. Or perhaps that's just me!
