Large scenic Secret Ridge Thunderegg

'Scenic' is a quite standard term for thunderegg specimens where the patterns and structure seem to show a picture - usually because leveling lines create a horizon' around which you can interpret all sorts of things. It's a term that is often over-used, but there can be no question that the Secret Ridge thundereggs rule the roost in terms of the scenic. This and the next (which make a fine pair) are especially fine. Here there genuinely does seem to be a picture painted in stone. When you catch a glimpse of these, they seem to be antarctic scenes - gray sea, ice flows, mountains and forbidding clouds. The core floor is brecciated and opalized clay - quite a common presence in Secret Ridge eggs.
The polished half measures 4 3/8" by 4" by 1 7/8" and weighs 1 pound, 10 ounces
